Different cloud providers have developed various access models to these services." according to Scott Wilson, Managing Partner of Brown-Wilson Group, a division of the international research firm Datamonitor.

The access to these services is based on standard Internet protocols such as HTTP, SOAP, REST, XML and the infrastructure is based on widely-used technologies including virtualization, hosting.
